I see Purchase People! | Urban Voices Heard : The Art Of Creation Women's History Month Event | March 2011

I see Purchase people! Purchase College SUNY folks are everywhere! Recently, I ran into a fellow alumna at The Art Of Creation event held in honor of Women's History month at El Fogon Center for the Arts located at 989 Home Street in the Bronx. Features for The Art Of Creation included: Lo Anderson-Poet, Paradigm-Poet Peggy Robles-Alvarado-Poet, Amma Whatt-Singer, Passion NoLastNecessary-Poet, and Visual Artist Malanya Graham, Hosted By Jamica.

Intimate, open, and direct, The Art Of Creation  was comprised of  heartfelt spoken word, music, conversation, and a live painting!  The dialogue that each artists' work created was engaging and informative.  Women's issues were discussed and light was shed on common misconceptions associated with titles, gender roles and classifications in the gay/homosexual community, sparked by spoken word piece's such as "I am a Stud." Worth every minute of the four hour sojourn from the comfort of my couch, I am thankful to have bared witness and been a apart of The Art of Creation.

Here are a few snapshots from the event, more will be posted, visit again soon!
