A Few Snapshots! Write Out Loud by Urban Voices Heard Celebrates Its 2-Year Anniversary at El Fogon Center for the Arts | by Ebony Brown

Write Out Loud, the spoken word/poetry event series brought to you every second Saturday of the month by the Bronx's own UrbanVoices Heard (UVH), hosted by John "Chance" Acevedo of El Grito De Poetas celebrated it's two year anniversary in it's new home at El Fogon Center for the Arts earlier this month. Present for only the latter portion of the event, the high energy and insane talent was nothing short of inspiring and incredible - I'm so glad that I attended!  Purchase College students, notorious for their open, creative, sharp and trend setting affinities would have enjoyed the show as well as the cozy, welcoming venue. They'll be spotted at El Fogon soon - and on the mic, I'm sure!  Did you know that one of the most notable, multifaceted, female, spoken word artist in the New York area graduated from Purchase College SUNY? Yes, none other than Ms. Amanda Diva.

Although Amanda wasn't on the scene at El Fogon Center for the Arts, the place was blazing with features such as: Tito Luna of  El Grito De Poetas and Rock Wilk of “Broke Wide Open”. A linguistic craftsman, Tito wrapped very serious and touchy subject matter into comical packaging, enabling the audience to imagine the poetry he painted; Rock Wilk's intimate conversation laden with stop, starts, repetitive phrases and spineless intonations was beyond crazy - his content was heavy, direct and penetrating.

El Fogon was a standing- room only, packed with quality poets and Guest Artists who included: Tuan X, Feenix Flame, The MarXman, Janelle Heatley, Majestik Originality, OMNI Blaize, Stillwater, SoSoon, and Rich Story. UVH's own, Passion [No Last Necessary], Ibrahim P.O.E.T Siddiq and James Kennedy. Visit UVH's  facebook event page to view a few videos from this event. Join UVH's facebook group page! Below are a few snapshots of the artists who closed out the show with a bang, as well as some who made the event possible!

Ms Ebony Brown,

These are fascinating images. You so have an eye for beauty. You have a way of capturing time; locking it in place and allowing us to relive moments as often as we'd like.
Thank you for sharing your gift with us and for creating such an art-form of your photography. I look forward to seeing more of your work. Be well!
P.S. Thank You very much for linking Spoken Word New York to your blog. That was picture peeeerfect! ;-)
