10 Things I Love About Purchase College by Karolina Wernick, BFA Photography Student

"As a freshman here at Purchase College SUNY, I haven't yet had enough time to experience all of the wonderful things that this college has to offer. However, here are the top ten things that I love so far:

1- Free yoga classes at the Wellness Center

2- Talk Cinema at the Performing Arts Center (PAC)

3- Life size chess (game) at the STOOD (Student Center)

4- Mokaad and the Flexpoints (awesome campus band)

5- Hanging out in hammocks between classes

6- Making huge waffles for breakfast in the Dining Hall (DHall)

7- Cheap Starbucks coffee at the Hub

8- The vintage clothes people sometimes sell in Campus Center South (CCS)

9- Reading the articles in The Purchase Independent

10- And finally, I love Fall Fest. Music, home-made jam, a petting zoo, and a free shirt...I felt like a kid again!"

Comfort Amongst the Chaos: National Portfolio Day at Purchase College SUNY | NOV 15, 2009

Some parents managed to find peace and solitude on the hammocks outside of the Visual Arts Building of Purchase College SUNY during National Portfolio Day; perhaps one of the most high anxiety college events that a high school student artist could subject themselves.

Despite the high traffic of nearly 1500 students and parents waiting on lines to have their portfolios reviewed, many students and parents reported having a great experience overall. To what could it have been attributed? The state of the art facilities of the Performing Arts Center in which the event was held? The awesome visual arts building facilities tour? The uncanny, beautiful weather? OR the critical feedback of professors and or admissions representatives from 53 unique arts universities all in one place? There's no question that the hammocks were certainly a favorite for the parent pictured above.
