PURCHASE, NY | Purchase College SUNY, Conservatory of Music’s Opera program presents an unforgettable performance of Amahl and the Night Visitors, on Wednesday, December 1-3 at 10:30 am and December 3rd at 7pm. All performances take place in the recital hall at the Conservatory of Music.

Amahl and the Night Visitors, directed by Alyssa Meyers, B.M. Class of 2011, is a timeless opera exploring definitions of poverty, love, and the search for spiritual identity. Reminding us to be thankful for the grace that comes to us at the turn of every corner, this opera tells the tale of a poor, crippled boy and his mother, who share what little they have with three Kings in need of shelter. The morning performances will include a question and answer session with the Westchester middle and high school students in attendance. PRODUCTION TEAM
Alyssa Meyers (Director) - Senior voice and opera studies major with a minor in arts management makes her directorial debut with this year’s production of Amahl and the Night Visitors. Mina Kim (Musical Director) - An active pianist, chamber musician, choral conductor and orchestral keyboardist, this is Mina’s debut as conductor. Thomas Baird (Choreographer) - Member of the opera faculty at the Conservatory of Music, Thomas is the Co-director of New York City based Baroque dance and music ensemble, Apollo’s Banquet. He also teaches Baroque Dance master classes at The Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music. Hugh Murphy (Musical Supervisor) - Principal Conductor for voice and opera at the Conservatory of Music, Hugh served on the coaching staff at the Santa Fe Opera and on the faculty at the Mannes College of Music. Jacque Trussel (Concept creator and Staging Supervisor) - Chair of the Conservatory of Music’s voice opera program, Jacque Trussel is a world-renowned operatic tenor, concert singer and award winning stage director.
